Woodturning Tuition

While I offer a number of standard courses, training can be tailored to suit your individual requirements recognising that we all learn at different speeds and in different ways. I can also provide local one to one training in your own workshop helping you to get the most from your own lathe and turning tools.

Courses are run for a maximum of 2 students, the number of spaces available are shown on each course date. To book on one of the scheduled courses or to enquire about alternative dates if those listed don't suit please contact me.

Course Costs

£150 for a full day 9am to 5pm including light lunch

£80 for a half day (4 hours) 9am to 1pm or 1pm to 5pm

£160 for 1/2 day Woodturning Taster for 2 persons on same booking

Training in your workshop is charged at a a rate of £22 per hour with return mileage charged at a rate of 45p/mile

Training costs are subject to change and but will be confirmed prior to booking

Where is Rick's workshop located?

Rick's workshop is at a residential property in Wingerworth near Chesterfield. Full directions will be supplied with course bookings.

What car parking is available?

There is ample off road car parking space, please park tidily on arrival.

What do I need to bring?

Clothing suited to the weather however strong full length trousers and stout footwear are mandatory for your personal safety. Woodturning smocks are provided as is all necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

How do I pay for courses?

We accept payment by cheque, bank transfer or cash. Payment is in full in advance of the training day, an invoice will be provided to request the payment.

Do I need any previous woodturning experience?

The Introduction and Taster courses are designed for those with no prior experience.

The Foundation and Improvers courses are intended for those with some previous experience or those who have completed the Introduction or Taster courses.

As the workshop is located at a residential property, please call me to discuss your requirements.

Catering

Refreshments are provided throughout the training course. For full day courses a light lunch will be provided, please ensure you advise any particular dietary requirements or dislikes at least 1 week ahead of your training day.
